Electromech would like to welcome Sofia Kyriakopoulou on a 3 month placement.
Porterbrook asked Electromech to support Sofia in her professional development in the field of DESIGN and Sofia is joining the team one day a week and will be working on 2 separate design projects from conception to delivery.
Sofia studied at the University of Birmingham and graduate in July 2022 with a degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. She previously worked at Porterbrook as a placement student between her 2nd and 3rd year of studies and supported various projects including the UK’s first Hydrogen and Hybrid units. In September 2022, she enrolled in Porterbrook’s graduate scheme and rotated through various teams within the company such as Fleet services where she supported the fleet engineers in the West Midlands region. Currently she is the Project Manager for overhaul projects in collaboration with West Midlands Trains. She is working towards her chartered engineer status with the IMechE and IET, and will be starting her MSc in Renewable Energy and Systems Technology. ”
